The Pacific Coast Highway: The Road That Became a Novel

Riding Paradise didn’t start as a book—it started as a ride. My wife Joyce and I have spent many winters travelling thousands of miles across Mexico. Each journey left us with something unforgettable, but none stayed with us quite like the wild, breathtaking stretch of Route 200.

I sought to capture the freedom, tension, romance, and the dangers of travelling in Mexico and shape it into a story that feels as real as the rides that inspired it. Mexico has been a hotbed of government corruption and never ending deadly clashes with the drug cartels, catching many innocent people in the crossfire.

I felt it was the right time to weave those realities into the narrative—balancing breathtaking scenery with the real frightening events happening throughout Mexico today. This book is about travelling in Mexico, which in recent years can be extremely dangerous.

You don’t have to ride a motorcycle to feel the pull of the open road. Step into a world alive with color, danger, and desire as you journey through Mexico’s villages, jungles, and the legendary coastal highway called Route 200.
